PUR binding or Perfect binding, What's the difference? - Print4UK
What is the difference between PUR and Perfect binding?
Frequently misunderstood or simply misinterpreted – perfect binding is not necessarily perfect and PUR binding might well be. It very much depends on what you want. Each has its merits but when it comes to adhesion, arguably the most important factor when making books, PUR binding, in page pull tests, is reportedly between 40 – 60 per cent stronger when compared with traditional perfect binding. The key difference between the two, in essence, is the glue being used. Polyurethane reactive (PUR) glue is used in PUR binding machines and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) is the glue used in perfect binding machines.
