State Senator Mike Halpin secured the money to do a study on what should happen at these dams to keep people safe, and he hopes that it brings solutions that don’t include removing them.
“My opinion and I hope the study will support this, is that there’s a significant need to maintain the water level, to maintain the existing habitats and ecosystems along the stretch of the river, but we need to balance that with safety,” Halpin said.
He hopes the results of the study should come between the fall and the end of the year.
